Monarch Art & Frame has been custom framing in Los Angeles for more than three decades. Our Van Nuys workshop handles everything from a single family photograph to thousand-piece hotel installations, and every job — large or small — is built by hand to conservation standards.

The difference between a frame that protects your art for decades and one that slowly damages it comes down to materials. We stock hundreds of moulding styles — from minimal metal profiles to hand-finished hardwoods — and walk you through the glazing and matting choices that fit your piece and budget.

• Glazing: regular glass, conservation (UV-filtering) glass, museum glass with anti-reflective coating, and lightweight acrylic for oversized or high-traffic installations.
• Matting: acid-free and 100% cotton rag mats in a wide range of colors, plus fabric-wrapped and hand-cut specialty mats.
• Mounting: archival hinging that never permanently alters original art, plus dry mounting for reproductions and posters.
• Backing: acid-free foam board and dust covers that seal the frame package against dirt and insects.

Not every piece needs museum-grade everything — a movie poster and an original watercolor call for different budgets. We will tell you honestly where conservation materials matter and where you can save.

Bring your piece to our Van Nuys office. A designer sits down with you at the counter, lays out moulding and mat corner samples directly on your art, and builds the design with you. You approve the exact combination and price before we start.

Every frame is then cut, joined, fitted, and finished in-house by our production team. Because we build in our own facility rather than outsourcing, we control quality at every step and can accommodate rush jobs when you are up against a deadline.

Custom framing is priced by size and materials — the moulding, glazing, matting, and any specialty mounting your piece needs. A small ready-to-hang piece and a large work under museum glazing sit at very different ends of that range. You always get the exact price up front, before any work begins.

We confirm a completion date when you approve the design, and because every step happens in our own facility we can often work to a deadline — tell us your date and we will say honestly whether we can hit it.
